Studio Spacefarer on Hyperwave: privacy policy
Last updated 29 October 2026.
Studio Spacefarer runs a chat server at studiospacefarer.com using Hyperwave, a Matrix app. Some channels of the Studio Spacefarer Discord server are also open there through a bridge, so people on Discord and people on Hyperwave can talk to each other. This policy explains what the bridge, the server and our Discord bot do with your information.
Who’s responsible
Studio Spacefarer runs the server, the bridge and the Discord bot. For questions, or to ask for anything below, write to admin@studiospacefarer.com.
If you use Discord
When you post in a bridged channel of the Studio Spacefarer Discord server, the bridge copies it to studiospacefarer.com so people on Hyperwave can read it. It copies:
- your messages, edits, reactions, replies and threads, and the files you attach;
- your Discord name and profile picture, shown next to them;
- your roles in the Discord server, shown as tags next to your name, and which channels you can see, so Hyperwave can list who’s in each channel.
When a channel was first bridged, the bridge also brought in some of its earlier history.
It doesn’t copy your direct messages, your account details, or anything from channels the bot can’t see. It never asks for your Discord login, and it never acts as you on Discord.
If you use Hyperwave
Your account lives on studiospacefarer.com. The server keeps your account, your messages and files, and the devices you’ve signed in from, with their IP addresses, as Matrix servers do. Messages you send in a bridged channel are posted on Discord through the bot, with your Hyperwave name and picture, and Discord’s own privacy policy applies to them there.
Whether you’re online isn’t shared with Discord.
Where it’s kept, and who sees it
Everything is stored on Studio Spacefarer’s own server. Bridged channels are never shared with other Matrix servers: ours doesn’t federate. Only members can read them, as on Discord.
Messages are used only to show them to members and to let members search them. They’re never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train any AI model.
The bridge also keeps a record that links each Discord message to its copy here (IDs only, no text), so it can carry edits and deletions across.
Deleting
- A message you delete on Discord is removed here too, with its edits and reactions, straight away. Its files are deleted from the server soon after, once an admin confirms.
- To be forgotten, write to admin@studiospacefarer.com. Everything you sent through the bridge is removed here, with your name and picture. Your Discord account isn’t touched, and anything new you post on Discord comes across again.
- If the bot is removed from the Discord server, or Discord stops it, everything that came from Discord is removed here within a week.
- Leaving the Discord server takes you out of the member lists and tags. Your old messages stay, as they do on Discord.
- If you have a Hyperwave account, you can delete your messages yourself, or write to us to have your account and its data removed.
You can also write to ask what we hold about you, or to correct it.
Changes
We’ll update this page, and its date, when anything here changes.
