Every day I must decide that it will be enough
It’s suddenly very real, with Next Fest coming and ProtoDungeon 3 participating, that I’m committed. Like, yeah I can still back out, of course, but that’s not something I want to do. It’s just a higher level of reality check.
It’s terrifying. Will this game be any fun? Is it too big? Is there enough to do? Does it provide enough choice? Enough variety? Good pacing?
Man I dunno.
Every day I have to decide that imperfect is enough. I chose intentionally to not try to game the algorithms or resort to dehumanizing sales tactics. Very likely, PD3 will not sell a massive amount of copies, and some folks won’t like it. It won’t solve our very tight finances, it won’t bring me fulfillment or deep contentment with my life.
All that’s left is to have fun creating the game, connect with those of you who do enjoy it, and learn for the next installment. Perfection is a lie, art is human.
