Week of May 13, 2018
Didn’t get much done this week–only Monday/Thursday saw any real work! Sometimes life just gets in the way. However, I’m pretty excited for what I’m working on now since it will be a big part of the game’s underlying foundation.
Sunday
Mother’s Day! I didn’t do anything on the game.
Monday
Some more collision cleanup! I took advantage of the new movement code to avoid having to make diagonal movement calculations in a bunch of different places.
Tuesday
Had a project team lunch at work, and then once I got home I spent time with my wife!
Wednesday
Not directly related, but I ordered a new laptop! This will be very helpful, since the old one is grinding to a halt and having more and more problems (and thus slowing down development). I spent a lot of the last few days and today doing some heavy research, comparisons, spreadsheets (I love spreadsheets!), and so on. Took up a lot of time, but tomorrow I expect I’ll be able to get back to it.
Thursday
Started working on getting the player to collide properly with enemies. Only a few enemies will damage the player on touch, while the rest will just be a normal collision (this is partly due to how the player moves during combat). The end result should be that you should be able to push enemies around! This might also translate to better block pushing mechanics.
Friday
Spent all day working on a gift for our wedding anniversary! Recorded some tunes for her. :)
