Most villagers have never heard of Odys the Hermit, never mind seen him.
Most villagers have never heard of Odys the Hermit, never mind seen him. Dak the Lumberjack will occasionally leave out a basket of food in the deep woods–maybe an animal takes it, maybe it’s something else. Or someone else.
But Odys does exist (at least, he thinks so, most of the time). What would drive a man to live among the treetops and live alone as a hermit? Does he just like his peace and quiet? Or is it perhaps some other reason… a mysterious past that he can’t face?
I ran the Monday poll as usual. It’s always fun to guess which NPC people will vote for, but this time I ended up way off the mark–my initial guess was for the Witch’s General, but after the first vote, he didn’t really take off. The witch herself was in the lead for quite some time, so I went ahead and drew her up.
Of course, the hermit pulled ahead near the end, so today’s lunch break was all about finishing this guy. I’ve got a treat for everyone this time… a process gif!

This is pretty fun to do, though it skips all the false starts and undos. The method works by undoing everything you’ve done, starting up GifCam, and recording all the “redos”. The process makes me look quite a bit more skilled than I actually am, lol.
So what you don’t see here is how many different times I tried to draw the hermit before undoing everything and starting over. I struggled with the beard in particular–distinguishing it from the face, giving him a body, making sure he didn’t look naked, making sure he didn’t look groomed, etc. Then the arms. Arms are always difficult!
