Game Update!

I planned on doing a ton of work over the last week since I had time off work, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. I had to wrap up the website contract (which is now, for all intents and purposes, done!!).

BUT I’ve still made great progress. I’m fully switched over to GameMaker Studio 2 now. There’s an import option, but I wanted to do it manually to get a good feel for the updates to the engine. In the process, I fixed several persistent bugs!

The camera system is working, diagonal movement is working, tile collision is working, and so on. I improved the way sword attacks feel (you aren’t locked in a single direction anymore) and began adding an inventory system.

So the next order of business is making the combat actually work with hitboxes and damage and knockback and so on. There’s a ton of little pieces here which will all combine to form one of the core parts of the game–the action! I’m very excited.

In addition, keep an eye out for me over on twitch.tv/mrdaneeyul! I’m gonna be doing some consistent game dev streaming starting on Tuesday evening. Can’t wait to share in this process with you all.

Lastly, I’m working on a “year in review” post. I think 2017 is going to be an excellent year for The Waking Cloak!
